Cody Tillman grew up in the Dallas Metropolitan area of Texas. In 2013, Tillman moved to California with his now wife, as she was pursuing a job opportunity in the tech industry. Fortunately, this job was near the culinary institution Tillman was interested in, and he began his training at the International Culinary Center. Once he finished his schooling, Tillman worked with Chef Peter Armellino at the Plumed Horse in Saratoga. This extended into a one-and-a-half-year employment where he was able to gain experience in several stations of the kitchen. After this, Tillman began working at Chez TJ under Chef Jarad Gallagher. Initially he had been hired to work the canapés station but was soon promoted to Pastry Chef.
